Barraquito Ristorante & Gastrobar – Creative Cuisine with a View

Barraquito is a new restaurant in Los Christianos, Tenerife, and is run by Ana, a marketing specialist from Mexico, and Marco, a passionate chef from Italy. When we got to try out a selection of their dishes in the beginning of the week, we were immediately touched by Ana’s and Marco’s warm welcome and the view of the sun setting over the sea. The menu offers a selection of international dishes and reinterpretations of traditional Canarian dishes. Chef Marco has a passion for creative cuisine, and you can taste it in every bite. His Italian heritage is reflected throughout the menu and especially in the desserts, which have a distinctly Italian touch. After 15 years of cooking in other establishments, Marco has fulfilled his dream of owning his own restaurant to create unique dishes and together with Ana, they were able to make their dream come true.

Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian or a meat-lover, you’ll find something to enjoy at Barraquito. All dishes were bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. We could really taste the love that Marco puts into his cooking! We recommend you try their homemade croquettes of the day, their special Canary stew 2.0 (not a stew but a dish that features crispy potatoes from a local farm, tender Cod fillet and a flavorful red mojo), and the Babá al rhum to finish a perfect dinner. And make sure to have a barraquito of course! This coffee drink is typical in Tenerife and combines coffee and condensed milk with Licor 43, cinnamon and hints of lemon. It’s sweet and makes a perfect desert for a summer evening. 

Aside from the food, the restaurant’s atmosphere is what makes Barraquito so magical. The restaurant has a cozy, homey feel, and Marco and Ana make sure that you feel like family. Their hospitality and care for others extends to the environment and is evident in the sustainable actions they take to protect our planet. By offering a small selection of dishes in the menu which leads to less waste production, using glass bottles to serve water instead of plastic bottles, ordering fresh produce from local suppliers, and preserving the Canarian cultural heritage by honoring its unique, authentic cuisine, Barraquito makes an important contribution to a more sustainable future
