beach clean up in palm mar on 25th august in Tenerife Arona with sandwiches and ocean beer

Beach CleanUp at Malpais de Rasca, Palm Mar

On October 25th, Palm Mar became the setting for another successful Beach CleanUp organized by Canary Green. More than 60 volunteers came together with a shared goal to protect and preserve the coastline of Malpaís de Rasca.

The event went beyond simply collecting trash. It was a day filled with community spirit, environmental awareness, and collaboration. Side by side, volunteers of all ages worked to remove debris from the beach and rocky shore, making the area cleaner, safer, and more welcoming for both people and wildlife.

By the end of the morning, we had gathered approximately 112 kilograms of waste, a tangible reminder that collective action truly makes a difference. This clean-up once again highlighted how powerful it can be when a community unites for a common cause.

A special thanks to Arona Ayuntamiento, Menceyes Properties, Bahia Beach Club, Ocean Beer, Participación y Voluntariado Ambientales de Tenerife, and Cabildo Tenerife for standing with us and helping make this Beach CleanUp possible.

Their dedication to protecting the ocean and promoting sustainable practices truly embodies the purpose of this clean-up. We’re deeply grateful to all our partners and volunteers for their energy, support, and collaboration, it’s thanks to their collective effort that we were able to create a meaningful and lasting impact.

Your participation always matters

It’s about bringing people together and inspiring real change. Beyond the physical act of cleaning the beach, the purpose of the event is to strengthen community connections, raise awareness about the environmental impact of waste, and educate participants on how everyday choices shape the future of our coastline. By fostering a sense of shared responsibility and encouraging more sustainable habits, the clean-up aims to create a lasting shift in behavior that extends well beyond a single day. It’s not just about removing trash, it’s about building a community that actively protects and cares for the ocean.

After work and Ocean Beer

Right from the start, Palm Mar was buzzing with great energy as volunteers of all generations showed up eager to make a difference. Within just a few hours, the group cleared waste from the shoreline, rocky areas, and nearby paths, making the coast cleaner and safer for everyone. After the clean-up, participants gathered to enjoy tasty sandwiches and refreshing Ocean Beers, a simple but perfect way to celebrate their hard work and share a relaxed moment together.

Why Beach Clean-Ups Matter

Each year, the Canary Islands welcome over 18 million visitors, and this number is steadily rising. While tourism plays a crucial role in supporting the local economy, it also puts added strain on fragile ecosystems, beaches, and public infrastructure.

For this reason, it’s essential that both residents and tourists take an active role in preserving the natural beauty of the islands. Protecting Tenerife and the rest of the archipelago is a shared responsibility, one that ensures these stunning places remain clean, safe, and thriving for generations to come.

We’re excited to announce that our next Beach CleanUp will take place on November 29th in Playa Grande, Poris de Abona. Another great opportunity to roll up your sleeves, make a difference, and keep Tenerife’s beaches beautiful.
