Tenerife’s coastlines are beautiful, but they need our help to stay that way. After our successful cleanups across the island, Canary Green is heading to Playa de Ajabo (Callao Salvaje) on Saturday, July 25th for another morning of positive impact, community vibes, and ecological action.
Whether you are a local, an expat, or just visiting our beautiful island, this is the perfect opportunity to give back to nature, meet like-minded people, and enjoy a fantastic Saturday morning.
And the best part? We are turning this hard work into a celebration afterward!

🥘 Reward Your Hard Work: Free Paella & Cold Beer!
We believe that protecting the planet should be rewarding and fun. Once we finish collecting the trash and weighing our haul, we invite all volunteers to relax and socialise.
Thanks to our amazing local partners, we will be serving delicious, fresh Paella and ice-cold beers (or soft drinks) for everyone who joined the effort! It’s our way of saying a massive thank you for helping us protect Tenerife’s oceans.
🎒 What to Bring & What We Provide
To make sure you have the best experience, here is a quick checklist of what you need to know:
☀️ Bring Sun Cream & a Hat: The Canary sun can get very strong, especially while walking along the beach. Protect your skin!
💧 Bring a Reusable Water Bottle: Let’s stay hydrated without creating more plastic waste.
🙌 Safe Bag Storage: Don’t worry about carrying heavy backpacks while collecting trash. You can safely leave your bags and belongings at our official meeting point, where our team will keep them secure.
🧤 We Provide the Gear: No need to bring anything else! We will provide all volunteers with protective gloves, trash bags, and any necessary cleanup equipment.
🏝️ Why Your Help Matters
Plastic pollution and microplastics are a constant threat to the marine life around the Canary Islands. Every single piece of trash we remove from Playa de Ajabo is a piece that won’t end up in the ocean or harm our local dolphins and turtles.
By dedicating just a couple of hours of your Saturday, you are making a real, measurable difference.

Where is the beach clean-up located?
We organise a beach clean-up every month at a different location across Tenerife. You can find details of our upcoming events on Eventbrite, or stay up to date through our social media channels.
How long does the beach clean-up take?
The beach clean-up lasts about two hours, running from 10:00 to 12:00.
What should you bring?
- Comfortable clothing

Canary Green’s tips to enjoying sustainable tourism in Canary Islands
Visiting Canary Islands on holiday doesn’t give you free rein to leave your values and principles at home. We encourage travellers to seek out sustainable options and keep up with environmental practices while travelling. Our top tips for a relaxed and wholesome stay include:
- Consider green transport options. Are you able to take a ferry to the island instead of flying? While you are here is a car necessary? Investigate public transport links or choose green options such as electric cars, green-hydrogen cars or e-bikes.
- Choose destinations that value sustainability and choose green alternatives such as solar power, recycling and energy-efficient architecture. This extends to places that value workers’ rights and the impact on the local community.
- Bring your own water bottle with you and refill it instead of buying single-use plastic bottles.
- Make use of the recycling when out and about and don’t just throw your rubbish in the nearest bin.
- Take advantage of local knowledge and immerse yourself in the culture through campaigns such as #Ilovecanarias and #meatfreemondaycanarias.
- Most of all, have fun and enjoy your time in the Canary Islands.
