Forestal Park Tenerife Climbing Adventure

Climbing adventure in the trees: Our visit at Forestal Park Tenerife

Are you ready for an adventure high up in the trees? Then Forestal Park Tenerife is the spot for you! Last Thursday, our team was welcomed by Forestal Park Tenerife to experience a few hours filled with fun, adventure, and, most of all, climbing! So keep reading to gain more insights into our climbing adventure.

Safety first!

We started at 10:30 am by gearing up: the harness is most important for a safe climbing adventure. The staff made sure it fit perfectly by adjusting the straps. Next, we received a brief introduction to the trails: there are easy, medium, difficult, and extreme trails.

Of course, we began with the briefing trail, akin to a practice trail. Our instructor demonstrated how to work with the gear to ensure safety: there is one hook that acts as a lifeline on the entire trail—it remains connected from beginning to end and can only be removed when safely back on the ground. After passing the ‘exam’ of tree climbing by completing the briefing trail, the Canary Green team was ready for the real climbing adventure!

Fun, Fun, Fun!

We started at the medium level and quickly progressed to the more difficult trails. Vincent, our fantastic researcher who also climbs in his free time, led the way and navigated the trees like a true climbing hero! Some of us still had to conquer a fear of heights, but we’re incredibly proud of ourselves for managing even the extreme trail! We walked between trees at 30 meters high, slid through the woods, and even did a Tarzan jump into a net. What a climbing adventure!

Forestal Park Tenerife: Escaping the fires

Forestal Park, located in the nature preserve Las Lagunetas, narrowly escaped destruction during the horrible wildfires this summer. Firefighters fought for weeks to protect the area and keep the fire away from the houses. Some trails remain inaccessible even today. Nevertheless, Forestal Park Tenerife was fortunate as the fires spared most of the area.

In the aftermath of the fires, the Forestal Park had to remain closed for months, and we’re beyond happy they were finally able to open their doors again to adventurous spirits! If you’re in Tenerife and looking for a fun and adventurous day, you should definitely support Forestal Park by climbing their trees!
