Dorotea gained her professional experience working in a consulting company as a grant consultant. Although she liked the type of work, she felt an urge to use the knowledge and gained experience to contribute towards the betterment and development of society.
As a result of that she was getting more and more engaged in activities of NGOs, volunteering for environmental organisations and participating in different international projects in Europe. At the same time, she started working as a freelancer on developing projects and writing grant applications for NGOs, trying to support those who are creating positive change in society.
One of the ways she is trying to make a change, and which she really enjoys doing, is being part of a clean-up initiative in Croatia for the past 3 years. Also, she usually joins for local clean-up initiatives in the places that she visits. She considers that as another way of supporting the local community where she is just a guest and when locals see that even “strangers“ are taking care of their environment, maybe at least some of them will start doing the same.
Dorotea enjoys discovering new places and food, spending time in nature, hiking, and watching sunsets. Since her first visit to Tenerife, she was impressed with the beauty of nature on the island, which encouraged her to join Canary Green and get actively involved in promoting sustainability and protection of the environment.
