Forestal Park Tenerife: Unique Adventure in the Canary Pine Forest

We got to spend a day at Forestal Park Tenerife, an outdoor adventure park hidden high in the mountains near La Laguna! Surrounded by Canary pine forest and far away from the busy coastal areas, the drive there led us away from traffic and towns and into a quiet, green landscape. The park is located in the Protected Landscape of Las Lagunetas, in Monte de La Esperanza often referred to as the green heart of Tenerife.

Fun in the Treetops

Forestal Park Tenerife offers high ropes courses ranging from easy to extreme, with some platforms reaching up to 30 meters above the ground! We were able to choose different routes depending on our comfort levels, which made the experience inclusive and enjoyable for everyone. Moving through the courses, we crossed rope bridges, navigated spider-web obstacles, and finally worked up the courage for the Tarzan jumps. The zip lines were an absolute highlight, allowing us to glide through the forest.

Feeling Safe While Being Challenged

Thanks to the continuous rope safety system, we were securely attached at all times, which made it easy to focus on the challenge rather than the height. The staff were always nearby, offering clear instructions, encouragement, and help whenever needed. Their calm and friendly presence made a big difference, especially for those in the group who were pushing their limits for the first time.

Practical Tips

You can easily spend up to 3 hours in the park and booking in advance is highly recommended, especially during holidays and high season. Because the park is located in the mountains, the weather is noticeably cooler than on the coast. Bringing warm layers and wearing sturdy footwear makes the experience much more comfortable. Packing a small lunch is also a nice way to relax in the forest afterwards.

Forestal Park Tenerife is a great mix of adventure, nature, and shared experience and a refreshing break from beach days and city sightseeing! The park was designed with respect for the forest and operates under the principles of sustainable tourism. The team actively works to conserve the surrounding ecosystem, ensuring that the Canary pine forest remains healthy and intact showing that outdoor activities can be both exciting and respectful of the environment.

Canary Green’s tips to enjoying sustainable tourism in Canary Islands

Visiting Canary Islands on holiday doesn’t give you free rein to leave your values and principles at home. We encourage travellers to seek out sustainable options and keep up with environmental practices while travelling. Our top tips for a relaxed and wholesome stay include:

  • Consider green transport options. Are you able to take a ferry to the island instead of flying? While you are here is a car necessary? Investigate public transport links or choose green options such as electric cars, green-hydrogen cars or e-bikes.
  • Choose destinations that value sustainability and choose green alternatives such as solar power, recycling and energy-efficient architecture. This extends to places that value workers’ rights and the impact on the local community.
  • Bring your own water bottle with you and refill it instead of buying single-use plastic bottles.
  • Make use of the recycling when out and about and don’t just throw your rubbish in the nearest bin.
  • Take advantage of local knowledge and immerse yourself in the culture through campaigns such as #Ilovecanarias and #meatfreemondaycanarias
  • Most of all, have fun and enjoy your time in the Canary Islands.
