Our team at Canary Green recently spent a day exploring La Graciosa — a quiet, volcanic island just off the coast of Lanzarote. We joined a boat trip with Líneas Romero, sailing from the port of Órzola into a landscape that feels miles away from the fast pace of modern tourism.
From the moment we stepped onto the boat, the experience invited us to slow down. The crossing itself was calm and scenic, giving us time to take in the Atlantic breeze and the view of the approaching island. Once on La Graciosa, it was clear we had arrived somewhere special — a place where life is still lived in connection with nature and the rhythms of the land and sea.
There are no big resorts here, no traffic, no crowds. Just sandy paths, small white houses, and a community that seems to have found its own balance. It’s the perfect example of slow tourism: travel that allows you to be present, to observe, and to appreciate rather than consume.
Relaxing Under the Sun: Sailing Along La Graciosa’s Pristine Coastline
After a short visit to the main village, we boarded the catamaran again and sailed along the coast, eventually anchoring near one of the island’s pristine beaches. We swam, kayaked, and enjoyed a fresh lunch on board — all without a sense of rush. The crew was friendly, the atmosphere relaxed, and the natural surroundings spoke for themselves.
This kind of experience reminds us that travel doesn’t have to be fast or packed with activities to be meaningful. Sometimes, the most memorable moments come when you just let a place reveal itself slowly.
