Saturday, July 20th 2019, was another delightful day bringing together healthy food lovers in Tenerife to enjoy delicious, homemade vegan food. Our 3rd Vegan Brunch Potluck Meetup took place at Vianello’s restaurant down in Playa de las Americas.
A Great Way to Connect With Like-Minded People
Sometimes vegans can feel very isolated among all their meat-eating family members and friends, so going to a vegan potluck is a great way to connect with like-minded individuals. It was a real pleasure to see happy participants connecting and having a good time while sharing their food, thoughts, feelings, and experiences of veganism and leading a healthy lifestyle.
A Fun Introduction to Living a Plant-Based Life
One of the purposes of our vegan meetup is also to introduce plant-based cooking to our non-vegan friends by inviting them to join our event and try new, delicious vegan dishes. As vegan food has such unique variations of flavors, it is such a pleasure to see vegan food winning over the hearts of meat-eaters.
A Great Opportunity to Try New Flavours
A Potluck meetup is an excellent opportunity to try something new or just indulge in your cravings. With a variety of flavors, savoury, sweet, salty and spicy, there’s always something for everyone.
This time we delighted our taste buds with: seaweed bakes, 3 versions of hummus, a few different sweet and savory salads, sweet potato chocolate tart, cherry brownies, apple pie with nuts, chocolate & peanut-butter energy balls, to name but a few.
Sharing Our Favourite Vegan Recipes
The idea for the event came from the desire to create a collective Tenerife Vegan Cookbook – a collection of the best plant-based recipes from individuals and local vegan-friendly restaurants in Tenerife. While the event is all about food, friends and fun, there is an added extra; the dishes are tested by judges and a prize given to the winners.
The winners receive their prize after they share the recipes of the winning dishes for The Tenerife Vegan Cookbook. After the event, the recipes are published on THE FOODIE COMMUNITY website.
Food Prepared With Love Tastes Better
Have you also noticed that homemade food has an entirely different quality than commercially prepared food? The energy that is infused when someone makes something with their hands changes the quality of a meal, and in a world of ever-increasing access to convenience foods, there is something to be said for taking in a little Vitamin L(ove) every once in a while.
And as time flies when you are having fun, our 3 meetup hours quickly became 6!
Don’t miss out on the next opportunity to join unique vegan culinary experience in Tenerife, follow our Facebook pages (The Foodie, Canary Green) or join our group (Vegan and Healthy Eating Community in Tenerife).
