ecently, our team had the opportunity to experience the Tazirga Wellness Tour, a peaceful wellness activity that allows visitors to slow down and reconnect with nature in Tenerife. Surrounded by the island’s natural landscapes and far away from busy tourist areas, the experience offered a refreshing reminder of how important it is to pause, breathe, and reconnect with both body and mind.
The setting itself already creates a sense of calm. With fresh air, open landscapes, and a relaxed atmosphere, the experience naturally encourages participants to step away from daily stress and become more present in the moment. It is a different way of exploring Tenerife — one that focuses on wellbeing, mindfulness, and respect for the environment.
A Wellness Experience for Everyone
The Tazirga Wellness Tour is designed to be accessible for everyone, regardless of previous experience with wellness activities. The session focuses on gentle movement, breathing exercises, and moments of reflection that help release tension and restore energy.
What makes the experience special is the connection with the surrounding nature. Practicing wellness activities outdoors adds a deeper dimension to the experience. The sounds of nature, the open space, and the slower rhythm of the activity create a natural sense of balance and relaxation.
The guides create a welcoming and supportive environment where participants can feel comfortable, whether they are trying wellness activities for the first time or already familiar with mindful practices.

Why Wellness Experiences Support Sustainable Tourism
Wellness activities like the Tazirga Wellness Tour naturally align with the principles of sustainable tourism. They encourage travellers to slow down, appreciate natural surroundings, and engage with destinations in a more respectful and conscious way.
Unlike high-impact activities, wellness experiences require minimal resources and focus on using what already exists — nature, movement, and human connection. This low-impact approach helps preserve Tenerife’s landscapes while offering meaningful experiences for visitors.
At the same time, wellness tourism supports a more balanced form of travel, moving away from mass tourism and towards experiences that value quality, wellbeing, and environmental awareness. By choosing activities that promote mindfulness and connection with nature, travellers contribute to a more sustainable tourism model for the Canary Islands.

Combining Wellness with Exploring Tenerife
Joining the Tazirga Wellness Tour is also a great opportunity to discover a quieter and more authentic side of Tenerife. After the experience, visitors can continue the day by exploring nearby natural areas, enjoying local food, or simply taking time to relax and enjoy the island’s slower pace.
Experiences like this show that Tenerife is not only a destination for sun and beach holidays, but also a place where visitors can reconnect with nature and themselves.
Canary Green’s tips to enjoying sustainable tourism in Canary Islands
Visiting Canary Islands on holiday doesn’t give you free rein to leave your values and principles at home. We encourage travellers to seek out sustainable options and keep up with environmental practices while travelling. Our top tips for a relaxed and wholesome stay include:
- Consider green transport options. Are you able to take a ferry to the island instead of flying? While you are here is a car necessary? Investigate public transport links or choose green options such as electric cars, green-hydrogen cars or e-bikes.
- Choose destinations that value sustainability and choose green alternatives such as solar power, recycling and energy-efficient architecture. This extends to places that value workers’ rights and the impact on the local community.
- Bring your own water bottle with you and refill it instead of buying single-use plastic bottles.
- Make use of the recycling when out and about and don’t just throw your rubbish in the nearest bin.
- Take advantage of local knowledge and immerse yourself in the culture through campaigns such as #Ilovecanarias and #meatfreemondaycanarias.
- Most of all, have fun and enjoy your time in the Canary Islands.
