Claudia Scharff
Hey you! I’m Claudia, and I recently graduated with a Master’s in Sustainable Development from KU Leuven, in Belgium. My thesis explored the complex interconnections between islands, water systems, and tourism in Tenerife. I purposefully chose to focus on the islands; not only because of my deep love for them but because they are at the frontline of our global sustainability challenges.
Through my research, I had the opportunity to work with Canary Green and immediately connected with the organization’s vision and values. That experience led me to join the team, where I can now put my academic knowledge into practice and contribute to meaningful change.
I am passionate about nature, learning from different cultures, and protecting animal welfare, which is why this work feels so close to my heart. For me, the ocean is my safe place, so I spend as much time there as I can. I also love be active, whether it’s playing beach volleyball and basketball with friends or just exploring new places. And if there is an animal around, you’ll probably find me somewhere close by because to me, they truly are one of life’s greatest gifts.
I’m excited for this journey and can’t wait to share my love for these islands with you all – Venga, let’s make our world a little greener and kinder, one island at a time … al golpito!
